Curious about what characters might be a good fit here or just need a little push to make up your mind? The EMP meme is a low-pressure space to put your feelers out. This is where you can share which characters you're considering, whether they're strong contenders or just a "maybe if someone twists my arm."

Val's Three Disasters
Makie Otono-Tachibana | Blade of the Immortal
Canon: Blade of the Immortal
Age & Romance Preferences: 23/24ish, canon is a wasteland when it comes to queerness but I'm very open to any type of pairing
About: (cw: suicide) And here we have Makie, the disgraced daughter of a samurai. When she was ten, her older brother, set to be heir to a sword school, challenged her to a playfight in which she so resoundingly kicked his ass that he committed seppuku out of shame. Subsequently her father kicked her and her mother out of the house. Sometimes a sex worker, sometimes a geisha, always the most badass swordswo/man alive. Plays a mean shamisen riff. Gifted poet and singer. The walking embodiment of "god had to nerf her with depression because otherwise she would've been too powerful". Tragically in love with the series' villain. Doomed by the narrative, but hey, what else is new.
Potential Plans: Idk, I mostly just roll with whatever comes. However, Makie desperately needs some friends. And perhaps someone other than her disaster bf to be in love with? WHOMST KNOWS.

Kagehisa Anotsu | Blade of the Immortal
Canon: Blade of the Immortal
Age & Romance Preferences: 22. In fact, EXTREMELY 22. Same as above, I'm an omnishipper, though I play him with a preference for women.
About: Aforementioned disaster boyfriend. Main antagonist of the series. A classic Villain With A Tragic Backstory, Anotsu is the grandson of a samurai who was expelled from a sword school (same one as above! shit really went down at that place) for swording wrong, leading him to become a bitter old man. At age ten or so, Kagehisa saw all the fucked up shit samurai do for their strange ideas of "shame", "face" and "honor" and decided the solution was to have a sword school with no virtue whatsoever. Later decided that he will unify all the sword schools in Japan -- with violence! And to start off with, he takes revenge on behalf of his grandpa by killing our plucky heroine's father. Wants to Make Samurai Badass Again. Emotional intelligence of a log. Will never pass up a chance to monologue or lecture. Expert linefacer but also a troll. HOWEVER despite all the villainy, he is perfectly capable of behaving and, despite what he says, does have standards on violence. He will not attack anyone who's a clear non-combatant and does in fact sometimes display helpful and caring behavior. Successfully carried out a courtship and got married for like a day. Melodramatically in love with Makie. Sometimes acts like he jumped straight out of a regency romance.
Potential Plans: As above, just rolling with it. Frankly I'm just considering him 'cause I think it'd be funny.

Roxana Webbs | OC
Canon: Original Characters
Age & Romance Preferences: in her 30s, F/F
About: Once known as the first pop star to be born in space, Roxana now lives a much quieter life as a regular performer at a space bar. Just as the side effects of fame started to be too much for her, Roxana was approached by Secret Services to do spy work for them. They offered to outfit her with supposedly trailblazing technology that gave her the ability to see into people's minds and hearts with song. However, after that went awry, she left that life behind as well and is now just hoping that she gets to be left alone and sing her songs at the bar.
Potential Plans: Playing OCs is so new for me hahaaaaa so if anything, I'd love to use this opportunity to develop her more. Also, due to her backstory, she tends to be quite anxious if not outright paranoid, so it'd be cool if she met some people who can gain her trust. \o/
